Our local ‘Church in the Woods’, just along the B2070, is a listed building constructed in 1878, thanks to the generosity of George Street, a local benefactor and one of the founders of Rake C of E School. It is a fine example of Victorian Gothic, with a lovely churchyard which has been restored over the past 10 years by a dedicated band of people and which is a resting place for many people of note.

It's a haven of peace and spirituality for the children when they visit it, and the rector, Trish Banfield (one of our governors) comes into the school to do assemblies every week and to talk to the children whenever she can.
